Kali Ensemble: Sangita

  • Studio LOOS 20B De Constant Rebecqueplein Den Haag, ZH, 2518 RA Netherlands (map)

Kali Ensemble invites you to experience new-music in a new way with five international pieces during their performance at Studio LOOS!

Kali is a new-music ensemble based in the Hague. Our ensemble consists of Giuseppe Sapienza (clarinet), İdil Yunkuş (violin), Beste Yıldız (cello), and Nirantar Yakthumba (piano).

Myrtó Nizami: Enlil [Clarinet, Violin, Piano], ca. 7'-8'

Daniil Pilchen: Three Songs. Kali [Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Piano], ca. 10'

Cristiano Melli: EROLA's SYMPHONIES HAVE DIFFERENT REMAINDERS WHEN DIVIDED BY A THIRD NUMBER (fixed media, clarinet, violin, cello)

Cristiano Melli: n EROLA's PASSAGES HERE AND THERE ARE WRITTEN IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE LESS CAN'T FAIL TO BE PLEASED, WITHOUT KNOWING WHY (fixed media, piano, clarinet, violin, cello)

Nirantar Yakthumba: श्रुतिमाला १ (Shrutimala No. 1), [Violin + sine waves], 12'

The name Kali refers to the name of the Hindu goddess of time. Therefore, in homage to Kali, we seek to explore new music that engages with time and form in manifold ways. To this end, it is also important for us that we actively work with composers who are close to us, and that we are able to not just perform their works but also understand the creative efforts behind them.

Kali: Sangita is the debut concert of our ensemble resulting from a week-long residency at Studio LOOS, in the Hague. We worked on pieces by Myrtó Nizami, Daniil Pilchen, Cristiano Melli and Nirantar Yakthumba and we will proudly be presenting them in our concert.
