Monday at 7:30PM, December 9, 2024, is a presentation of a film as artistic research by Isabella and Sara Wentik “Victor Wentik: Het Leven”

Our research with amazing STUDIO LOOS & Peter van Bergen focussed on Peter’s initial idea of making a film about our father: artist, composer, engineer and philosopher Victor Wentink (1948-2020). We wanted to make a documentary about Victor’s innovative idea: the QS technology/philosophy. Which he developed in the late 60’s and which resulted in the first ever social network technology in the world (decades before Facebook & Youtube).

Instead of a film/documentary, Sarah & Isabella (being philosophers) envisioned a new medium: Explique (as a reference to Derrida) to encapsulate their father’s complexity into a new type of medium. A “film” but one in which Victor’s thoughts, concepts were the driving foundation. In which his ideas and complex work that encapsulated fields such as philosophy, engineering, art and composition all could be reflected on. A medium that could include music, art, philosophy (text) and images/film to tell/explain/explique in French the versatile concept of the QS and Victor Wentink’s ideas, in a way that tries to do justice to the essence of his brilliant thoughts.
