DREAMS IN ART
Quirijn Dees
In this presentation, I intend to introduce my ongoing research on ‘dream-based’ art, or art that is directly involved with dreams. I will be discussing multiple artistic approaches to using material derived from dreams. In this context, I intend to inspect Surrealism, as well as other examples of ‘dream-based’ art. Furthermore, I would like to present my own animations together with my current experiments within this subject.
Quirijn Dees is a composer, animator and a 4th year Bachelor of Sonology's student. He initially developed an interest in sound through producing beat music. At the age of 18, Quirijn started his Bachelor in Sonology. It was here that his interest in audiovisual composition grew, as he created his first animation for his second-year final presentation. In this work, Quirijn experimented with approaches to combining animation with music. Quirijn has always been passionate about drawing, and animation offers the means to combine his drawing with his music. After this, Quirijn has primarily been working with dreams through animation and music.
More info on Daniil's presentation will be posted soon.
