Full of energy and enthusiasm, the international Ensemble Modelo62, based in the Netherlands, breaks a lance for contemporary music
“Stubborn resurgences” share the remaining sounds of an ambitious exchange between the sound worlds of Canada and the Netherlands was originally conceived in the context of 75 years of the liberation of Utrecht by Canadian soldiers in 1945. Such a project fall as a result of the pandemic, the impossibility of commuting and the different policies taken by each country.
In such a context, composers Aart Strootman, Allison Cameron, Roxanne Nesbitt and Wilbert Bulsink focussed in what they know how to do best: to produce new and original music. With this "back to basic” attitude they worked in close dialogue to create a new program, forming one long continuous chained piece in which the independent compositions merge and form cross-links.
In “Stubborn resurgences” we will enjoy to a palette of sounds that will range from precisely notated music to graphic scores, from traditional instruments to newly invented instruments, from fragmented pieces to closed works. All of these elements will form a kaleidoscope that portrays four of the more original voices from each country, inviting the listener to a sonic journey that will condense the uniqueness and diversity of their music.
