Padding: 'Ik kan het niet in drie zinnen zeggen. Het is ook niet iets wat we zelf bedacht hebben. Zo wordt die groep van buiten beschouwd'.
Bouwhuis: 'We wisten eerst überhaupt niet of het er was.'
Padding: 'Wat ik wel weet, is dat de strikte beschrijving van de Haagse School, zoals die veel gebruikt wordt in recensies, niet goed is. Dat van eenzijdig, geen versieringen, hard, kaal, zogenaamd ongedifferentieerd en Andriessenachtig.'
Bouwhuis: 'Het is anti-romantisch.'
Emmer: 'Er is niks anti.'
