Documentary about Ryoji Ikeda
Japan’s leading electronic composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda focuses on the essential characteristics of sound itself and that of visuals as light by means of both mathematical precision and mathematical aesthetics. Ikeda has gained a reputation as one of the few international artists working convincingly across both visual and sonic media. He elaborately orchestrates sound, visuals, materials, physical phenomena and mathematical notions into immersive live performances and installations.
Naked Wolf – free improv

In the middle of Naked Wolf’s free improvisations a thoroughly danceable groove may suddenly arise. ‘Feel free to dance’ is the band’s surprising motto, after all. The jagged, hypnotic rhythms that are characteristic for the group sound are not just laid down by drummer Gerri Jäger and bass guitarist Luc Ex, but just as much by Yedo Gibson’s pumping baritone sax. The latter, with a clarinet as his second instrument, forms the compact horn section with Felicity Provan’s trumpet, thus representing the acoustic element within the band. In contrast to this are the electronics of guitarist Mikael Szafirowski’s effect pedals and Ofir Klemperer’s synthesizer. The composed material that makes up Naked Wolf’s repertoire, in addition to the free improvisations, is designed and developed by all six members. It may take the shape of long, outstretched passages or in rapid interchanges in mood and rhythm, in high voltage intensity or in quiet moments, and refers to such diverse genres as jazz, pop, world music and noise. It keeps the musicians continuously on the alert, thus switching off the auto pilot, whilst the band carefully steers clear of predictability.
Casper Schipper – live coding
Casper Schipper (Haarlem, 1984), is a composer of electronic music. He has collaborated in the past with VocaalLab, Rozalie Hirs and Willem Boogman. He is also currently working for Stichting The Game of Life, managing it’s portable 192 speaker Wavefield Synthesis System.
Casper’s performance will be a live exploration of his generative ChucK programs. These programs will be run, modified, combined, terminated, crashed, rewritten and debugged on the fly, all in search of musical beauty and surprise.
Naja Ankarfeldt – Mutaatio 3D
Naja Ryde Ankarfeldt graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, school of design in Copenhagen 2013. She now studies ArtScience MA at The Art Academy of The Hague, the Netherlands. She researches the ecology of repetitive forms, dynamic and spatial patterns to produce aesthetic tactile experiences. Through her visual artwork she investigates how we are connected to nature, and how the knowledge of shapes and biological structures can be presented through working with materials, technology and digital art.
