Kaja Draksler
Kaja Draksler (1987) is a Slovenian pianist and composer. After her studies in the Netherlands (BA in jazz piano and MA in classical composition), she decided to stay in Amsterdam, where she is an active member of the improvisors scene, performing extensively all over the Europe. Besides her frequent solo concerts, she has been working regularly with Čudars-Draksler Duo, Feecho, BadBooshBand, and Draksler-Santos Silva duo. She is also one of the founding members of the interdisciplinary group I/O. She recently formed her Octet. As a composer she has been commissioned by various international groups, ranging from vocal and chamber ensembles to big bands and orchestras. Kaja is interested in finding ways to merge the composition and (free) improvisation by working with different structures and musical logics. She is drawn to the idea of erasing the stylistic and historical musical borders, and discovering personal expression and language through composition and improvisation.
Trevor Wishart
Trevor Wishart is an English composer, based in York. Wishart has contributed to composing with digital audio media, both fixed and interactive. He has also written extensively on the topic of what he terms “sonic art”, and contributed to the design and implementation of software tools used in the creation of digital music; notably, the Composers Desktop Project.
He was educated at the University of Oxford (BA 1968), the University of Nottingham (MA 1969), and the University of York (PhD 1973). Although mainly a freelance composer, he holds an honorary position at the University of York.[1] He was appointed as composer-in-residence at the University of Durham in 2006, and then at the University of Oxford Faculty of Music in 2010–11, supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
Wishart’s compositional interests deal mainly with the human voice, in particular with the transformation of it and the interpolation by technological means between human voice and natural sounds.This is most evident in his albums Red Bird/Anticredos (composition period: 1973-77, publishing date: 1992) and VOX Cycle (1980-1988, 1990), and also in the compositions Tongues of Fire (1993-93, 2000), Globalalia (2003-2004, 2010), Two Women (1998, 2000), and American Triptych (1999, 2000).
He is also a solo voice performer and an improviser of extended vocal techniques, using the recordings of his own improvisations to compose his electroacoustic pieces as well, like he did for Red Bird and Vox 5.
Jan Trützschler von Falkenstein
Jan T. (Jan Trützschler von Falkenstein) works in the field of computer music, media art and creative coding since the late 1990s. He performs ‘crispy’ sound collages using novel and custom made interfaces, produces sonic installations and occasionally composes for ensembles and fixed media. Currently, he focuses on designing audio apps for mobile devices which are released under TeaTracks.
In the past years, Jan contributed to the open source audio software SuperCollider. His music has been performed across the world at festivals such as ICSM World Music Days, ICMC, Spark, MusicAcoustica, TodaysArt, BEAST. Jan studied Media Design in Weimar, Sonology in Den Haag and Computer Music at the University of Birmingham.
