RAD rotating speaker
Research on sound spatialisation and composition with movement
Research by: Elizaveta Kuzyakova, Johan van Kreij, Kristin Norderval, Lucie Nezri
Performative installation R.A.D. is an attempt to approach sound spatialisation with one monophonic sound source that can be set in adjustable rotational motion. The loudspeaker is treated rather as an instrument than as a static sound projection source.
Elizaveta: “Having started exploring acousmatic music, I became very interested in composing for multichannel and less traditional systems. During my research on composition with movement using RAD I aim to explore how this very movement, created both physically (by the rotation) and sonically, unites together and how those layers interact within a single piece of music.”
Elizaveta Kuzyakova is an experimental musician and composer from Moscow, currently based in The Netherlands. Continuing her studies in the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, she is active in the field of electro-acoustic composition and live performance. Her solo project Sáof evolves around drone /noise/ experimental electronics.
