Ángel Faraldo (1980) is a musician concerned with improvisation, digital instrument design and composition. He studied Classical Guitar at the Royal Conservatoire of Madrid and holds a Master’s Degree in Sonology from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.

As an improviser, he usually plays his computer-based instrument MISS. He has performed and worked throughout Europe, with improvisers such as Günter Heinz or Mike Majkowski, and collaborated with ensembles such as Orquesta FOCO or GIV. His current projects include the electro-acoustic duet with Yolanda Uriz YUAF (larraskito netlablel), the quartet Majkowski/Altman/Uriz/Faraldo, The Royal Improvisers Orchestra (NL) as well as solo playing with MISS (friendlyvirus netlabel).

He composes music for film, fixed media, concert and installation. His recent projects in this field include the interactive sound-installation diario de Cualquiera (2006-2007), Apropiación (2006) for two computer-processed narrators, pre-recorded music and choir, and MONO (2009) for four computer-musicians and one acoustic instrument, a commission for the POW ensemble (NL). He collaborates with artistic collectives such as Medea Electronique (Koumaria 2009, Greece) or Peter van Bergen’s IOM_2 (Interactive Orchestral Machine).

MISS is a computer-based musical instrument which represents an attempt at integrating certain compositional rules within improvisational contexts. Basically, the course of playing it is the course of developing a composition in which the gestures of the performer are interpreted to simultaneously shape the timbre, envelopes, sequences and structure of the intervention.

He has played with it in a variety of situations, from chamber ensembles to full-size improvisers orchestra, whether mono or in several multichannel configurations. In my solo setups, I tend to create situations of slowly evolving structures with preferences to explore huge dynamic and emotional ranges.

Formed in 2008, this electro-acoustic quartet brings together two musicians from Spain (currently based in The Netherlands) & two musicians from Sydney, Australia. Their music is improvised, with a focus on deep listening, creating group phrases which highlight the textures and subtleties that each instrument is capable of producing.

This concert is part of their European winter tour, with performances in The Netherlands, Belgium, France and UK. Also they are recording at Loos studio for a future release of their work.

Lynn Cassiers(born 1984, Antwerp) started to take lessons in music at the age of 14. 10 years later (2006) she concluded her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag for jazz-vocals.

During this period Lynn has been active as much in the jazz-scene as well as the improvised music-scene. Therefor she slowly started to accompany herself with a small range of electronics. After several years of working with this set in different contexts, especially bands, the idea arised that this language could be explored even more in the form of a solo-project.

So here The Bird, The Fish and The Ball. An exuse to fool around with bits of repertoire, pieces of texts, leftover loops and  out-of-control-gotten sounds , in order to create new soundscapes or small stories that can be improvised differently every concert.

Currently, Lynn takes part in following bands: Riccardo Luppi's Murmure(with Manolo Cabras and Joao Lobo), Lidlboj(Jozef Dumoulin, Bo van der werf, Eric Thielemans), Brussels Jazz Orchestra(project: Vliegen Tot In De Hemel) Octurn(Bo van der werf, Nelson Veras, Jozef Dumoulin, Gilbert Nuono, Jean-Luc Lehr, Chander Sardjoe), Wrapped In(Giovanni Di Domenico), Trouvé/Thielemans/Cassiers(Rudy Trouvé, Erik Thielemans), The Crappy Mini Band(Nico Roig, Pakyan Lau, Daysuke Takaoka, Giovanni Di Domenico), Basic Borg(Manolo Cabras, Matteo Carrus, Oriol Roca, Riccardo Luppi), Magine(Alexandra Grimal, Mathieu Calleja), MALM(Augusto Pirroda, Manolo Cabras, Marek Patrman)..., and is teaching at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven.
